KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 18 – After losing the Purple League Junior (PLJ) Division 1 title in 2018 in a shock defeat to Bukit Cheras BC, Ampang Jaya BC are out to redeem themselves this season.

Ampang Jaya BC had to be satisfied as runners-up after collecting 1398 – 1105 points compared to Bukit Cheras BC with 1404 – 1085 points last year, are out to reclaim the championship in this year’s competition this weekend.

Coach Hendra Aprida Gunawan said all Ampang Jaya BC players are raring to go after learning from their mistakes last season.

“In 2018, we failed to collect as many points as possible causing us to lose to Bukit Cheras BC but we will not allow the situation to happen again.

“We hope the mixed doubles and the men’s doubles will win all their matches,” he said in a statement via the organisers.

Meanwhile, Bukit Cheras BC look to defend their title and are not expected to face much problems against new teams such Amanjaya BC and Kuantan Synergy BC.

But teams such as Ampang Jaya BC, Kepong BC and Bandar Maharani BC are capable of upsetting the champions.

Division 1 and 2 actions are scheduled to start this weekend at the Falim Sports Arena, Ipoh while the second round will be at Challenger Sports Centre, Ampang on Oct 5 and 6, followed by the final round on Oct 19 to 20 at Sports Arena Sentosa.
